For over 28 years, attorney Peter A. Pentz has represented a variety of insurance companies as well as many of the largest self-insured employers and their third-party administrators in western Pennsylvania and throughout the commonwealth. In addition to representing employers and insurers in litigated workers’ compensation claims and petitions, Mr. Pentz also has been involved in extensive counseling of employers in workers’ compensation matters and has assisted employers with workers’ compensation-related employer programs, including safety committees, return-to-work and modified duty programs and injury prevention and education.
At the law firm of Peter A. Pentz, Esq., Mr. Pentz has handled all types of workers’ compensation cases, including petitions before workers’ compensation judges (WCJs) and appeals before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, the Commonwealth Court and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. In addition, he has handled cases brought against employers under the Heart and Lung Act, Act 534, the Black Lung Benefits Act (BLBA), the Jones Act (maritime) and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA).
Mr. Pentz has extensive experience in prosecuting subrogation claims and monitoring third-party litigation that arises from a workers’ compensation accident. In addition, he has represented employers in all types of workers’ compensation claims, including occupational disease cases, chemical exposures, hearing loss and loss of sight cases, specific loss cases as well as mental or psychological claims.
Mr. Pentz is committed to working with the employer and its insurer or third-party administrator to form a defense team in order to best protect his clients and address their needs in a manner that is professional, cost-effective and results-driven. The focus is on providing the experience and expertise of a workers’ compensation specialist to address the needs of clients through communication, client involvement and common-sense solutions.
In addition to being a certified workers’ compensation specialist, Mr. Pentz is a past president (2015-2016) of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and, in that capacity, was the leader of a group of attorneys throughout the commonwealth of Pennsylvania practicing in workers’ compensation law. Mr. Pentz is also a member of the Pennsylvania Self-Insurers’ Association, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, the Erie County Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section, the Erie Claim Association, the Insurance Club and other similar organizations. He has served and currently serves on workers’ compensation committees throughout the state, including the Bench Bar Committee (current member), the Workers’ Compensation Centennial Committee (former treasurer) and the Workers’ Compensation Automation and Integration System (WCAIS) committee, as well as various rules and regulations committees.
Mr. Pentz is also a frequent speaker throughout the state and has organized and lectured for various workers’ compensation conferences, including those for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Erie County Bar Association, as well as the Workers’ Compensation Conference and the Workers’ Compensation Fall Section meeting.
